On August 26, 2014 Hewlett-Packard released a public recall of over 6 million power cords due to”Fire Hazards”. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, 29 cases of overheating and charring power cords have been reported so far. HP laptops and accessories sold between September 2010 and June 2012 were distributed with the faulty AC cords. Power cords with marked “LS-15” at the end of the AC adaptor will be replaced at no cost by the company.
This isn’t the first time that HP has had problems with AC cords. Back in 2013, Google and HP recalled the orginal charger sold with the HP Chromebook 11 for the same reasons.
