Windows 10 has been available for a little over 6 months now. In the beginning, the new operating system had its fair share of bugs and issues but after many updates and fixes, Windows 10 is running smoothly on almost all PCs. It’s about time you upgraded, especially if you’re running Windows 8 (or if you’re just tired of seeing the upgrade pop-up every time you startup your system).
Here are a few more compelling reasons to move to Windows 10:
The new Start menu
The new Windows 10 start menu is amazing. Instead of simply being a place to view your programs, it becomes a place to see everything that’s going on in your life. It’s customizable and you can pin your favorite programs to it with organized blocks. You also have a space to see your recent emails, breaking news, your calendar, the weather and so much more. You can make this your space to manage your life.
Right underneath the Start menu is Cortana, Microsoft’s virtual assistant. You can either type in requests or use your voice. You can have Cortana search your PC, search the internet, remind you to do things, identify songs, perform calculations, track packages, send emails, and a whole lot more.
The “Action Center” to the right of the screen can show you things like calendar events, new emails, and updates. It’s one space to see everything that’s going on in your world. It’s about time that Microsoft implemented it in their operating system.
You can use virtual desktops to manage the different facets of your life. You can use one desktop to keep work related apps open and another desktop to keep personal things open. It’s easy to switch back and forth between desktops while keeping everything open and accessible. This is especially great for those of us that can’t stand having a lot of tabs open on an internet browser.
Smaller installation and better compression
Windows 10 has a smaller installation size than previous versions of Windows. This means you have more space for other apps and files on your computer. Also, the new compression algorithm is more efficient, allowing files to be smaller in size. You will be able to store more files on a smaller hard drive.
